Two arrested after confronting school bus full of children with gun

Ewin Eugene Wright (left) and Jacinta Kendral McPherson (right) allegedly worked together to confront a school bus full of children with a handgun in Moss Point on Aug. 23.

Two people have been arrested after approaching a school bus full of children with a gun on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Officials announced the arrests of Edwin Eugene White, 23, and Jacinta Kendral McPherson, 40, in connection to the incident that happened on the campus of Kreole Elementary School in Moss Point on Aug. 23.

McPherson allegedly pulled in front of the bus with her vehicle to block the bus from being able to move. That’s when White is said to have confronted the bus with a gun in his hand.

Law enforcement was called to the scene after a parent sitting in their vehicle nearby noticed a man with a handgun.

White was charged with felony simple assault against a school official. He is being held at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center and has not had a bond set at this time. McPherson was charged with interference with the operation of a school bus and was released on a signature bond.

It has not been released what the motive was behind the incident, whether the two were allegedly trying to confront the driver or someone else on the bus. No injuries were reported from the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
