Officials from the Tupelo Elvis Festival recently presented a check for $4,106 to St. Jude’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
The funds, which were raised during the festival’s Sunday Gospel Concert, bring the total amount donated by the Tupelo Elvis Festival to St. Jude’s up to over $40,000.
“Tupelo Elvis Festival is grateful for St. Jude and is honored to contribute to this wonderful childhood cancer research and treatment facility,” Tupelo Elvis Festival facilitator Lucia Randle said. “We know with confidence that this small contribution will be used to continue the compassionate care of children seeking treatment and support of their families.”
Elvis Presley was a long-standing supporter of St. Jude, which was just eight miles from Graceland. His most famous charitable gift to the hospital was the USS Potomac, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s presidential yacht, in 1964.
The 2022 Tupelo Elvis Festival took place in Presley’s birthplace from June 7-11.
