JACKSON, MISS– The Mississippi Highway Patrol has released their plan for making sure travelers are safe this Thanksgiving holiday.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol will begin the 2015 Thanksgiving Holiday Travel Enforcement Period on Wednesday, November 25 at 6 p.m. and will end it Sunday, November 29 at midnight.
The reason for this enforcement period is to keep you safe from those driving careless, drunk, or distracted.
“MHP investigated 179 crashes including 3 fatalities during the 2014 Thanksgiving enforcement period,” says Captain Johnny Poulos, with MHP, “Troopers will be conducting safety checkpoints as well in order to enforce child restraint and seatbelt laws while also removing impaired drivers. We urge motorists who are preparing to travel on the roadways to include safe driving as part of their plans. This helps ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday season for everyone travelling in Mississippi.”
