If you live in central Mississippi and have already rolled your trash bins out to the street, it may be prudent to take them back to a sheltered area as garbage collection services have been suspended for all of Thursday due to Francine.
Jackson trash collector Richard’s Disposal has announced crews will not be out hauling trash in the capital city as road conditions are not entirely safe citywide.
In addition, Waste Management, which picks up trash in Hinds, Rankin, Madison, and Copiah counties, will move Thursday’s garbage to Friday and Friday’s to Saturday to ensure the safety of its drivers and collectors.
Trash customers in central Mississippi are asked not to take garbage out to the street and to especially avoid leaving hazardous waste in an unsecured bin while services are suspended.
Francine struck as a Category 2 hurricane on Wednesday evening and subsequently weakened into a tropical storm. On Thursday morning, it was downgraded to a tropical depression. As things stand, no injuries have been reported from the inclement weather.
