Toy Guns Targeted: State Reps Want to See Limitations on Look-Alike Weapons

WEST POINT, Miss.–Are toy guns protected under the Second Amendment? Probably not and now there might be some strict limitations on playing cops and robbers if state Rep. Tyrone Ellis (D-West Point) gets his way.

He’s heading up an effort to restrict who can buy the toy guns (limited by age) and how they can be sold (behind the counter).

Ellis, pastor of Running Water Baptist Church, told WCBI that his goal is not to prohibit their sale, but to prevent certain age groups from buying them and to keep people who may possess them from getting harmed by police.

In the Senate, Sen. Angela Turner, a Democrat from the same area, is working on their version of the bill.
