Tourism is up in Mississippi. Glenn McCullough, Jr. Executive Director of the Mississippi Development Authority said that over 23 million visitors came to Mississippi and most of them were from international destinations.
“Over 23,150,000 visitors came to Mississippi this past year and most of the increase were international visitors,” said McCullough, “We had visitors come to Mississippi from Europe and Asia and they came to Mississippi and they got a great impression of our state. They met our people and saw the beauty of our countryside in Mississippi.”
McCullough added that the opening of the two Mississippi museums brought in a record number of visitors as well.
“The goal for the two museums in year one was 180,000 and in six weeks we reached 30% of the goal.”
