The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Moss Point on Monday afternoon as severe weather continues to hit south Mississippi.
Paige Roberts, president and CEO of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, told SuperTalk Mississippi News that the tornado has hit Moss Point High School, the school’s gym, its football stadium, and the school system’s central office.
In addition, eight people were reported to be trapped inside the M&M Bank on Main Street in downtown Moss Point.
Moss Point Police Chief Brandon Ashley has since confirmed that all eight have been safely evacuated from the bank.

Those on the Mississippi Gulf Coast are asked to seek shelter and avoid impacted areas so that emergency crews can work quickly to assist those in need.
