SCOTT COUNTY, Miss.–It was in a rural part of Scott County where three-year-old Samaria Harris was beaten, say officials there. She died at the pediatric hospital at UMMC Saturday, where she had been since last week. Now the father’s fiancee’ is charged.
Twenty-five-year-old Lamonica Johnson is charged with capital murder. An autopsy confirmed this week that blunt force trauma was the cause of death.
Sheriff Mike Lee told media that a 911 call brought deputies to the trailer where Samaria’s father Sedrick Harris, lived with Johnson. The call said that a child had been hurt. She was flown to UMMC shortly thereafter.
Lee said Johnson had a previous aggravated assault arrest.
