LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss.–It may have been one of the worst wrecks on record in recent years in the state. Three people died in a crash in Lauderdale County Thursday afternoon.
The three who died, who had not been ID’d as of Friday morning, were riding in a Lincoln that hit a collided with a Camaro at the intersection of Highways 19 and 494. The Highway Patrol said the Lincoln was turning onto Hwy. 494 when it was hit by the Camaro. The Lincoln turned over and was mangled.
The driver of the Camaro was sent to the hospital by helicopter.
Coroner Clayton Cobbler told WTOK TV that it was one of the worst wrecks he had seen.
“This ranks up there in the top ten. Over 35 years, this is probably one in the top ten definitely,” he told the TV station.
The Highway Patrol is still trying to figure out just what caused the crash.
