JACKSON, Miss. – The city of Jackson has been named one of the best cities for women entrepreneurs.
According to GoodCall, Jackson is the 26th ranked best city for women entrepreneurs.
In the capital city, more than 35 percent of businesses are owned by women.
Jackson came out just ahead of big cities like New Orleans and Austin, Texas..
The rankings were determined by analyzing network potential, business climate, educational values, and economic health.
Mississippi’s thriving climate for business can attract women entrepreneurs to the state, said an analyst involved in the study.
“Women-owned businesses continue to see growth and prosperity around the U.S.,” said analyst Claire Etheridge. “Several factors boosted the top 100 places, including robust educational values for women, a thriving post-recession economy, and a high density of female business owners.”
Right now in the U.S. there are 11.3 million women-owned businesses. Together they generate more than $1.6 trillion in revenue.
