Over the weekend, the Oxford Police Department arrested 13 people in a prostitution sting.
The OPD worked in conjunction with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office, FBI (Oxford Field Office), Homeland Security Investigations Division, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and Metro Narcotics.
Agencies were able to arrest one person for prostitution and twelve people for procuring prostitution.
“We appreciate the help and support from our local, state and federal agencies in an effort to proactively work towards reducing crime for our citizens,” said Joey East, Chief of Police.
All charges are misdemeanor crimes, each person was arrested and taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center.
