NATCHEZ, Miss.- As Natchez celebrates it’s 300th birthday on August 3rd, they will also dedicate the third site of the Natchez National Park Service, Fort Rosalie.
The site of the fort was a strategic point of in the struggle for the Mississippi Valley with other European imperial powers.
It served as a focal point for the creation of the Mississippi Territory by Congress in 1798.
The Natchez Democrat reported that the park has been working to develop the area and perfect the significant roll it played in the history of Natchez. The site will be open to the public on Aug. 3.
