JACKSON, Miss.- A gay Mississippi couple is seeking a divorce.
Lauren Czekala-Chatam is hoping to divorce Dana Ann Melancon after the Supreme Court voted to recognize same sex marriage across the country. The couple was married in California back in 2008 and has been trying to get a divorce since 2013.
However, Desoto County Chancery Judge, Mitchel Lundy Jr., ruled that the state constitution prevented him from granting a divorce, back in 2013.
State Attorney General Jim Hood has now asked the Mississippi Supreme Court to allow the couple a divorce.
