MOORE, Okla.–The destruction in Moore, Oklahoma may be unimaginable to most, but Mississippians have experienced enough EF4 and EF5 tornadoes in the past couple of years to understand to some degree the anguish and suffering those communities are suffering today. That’s why you’re telling News Mississippi you want to help.
Some of the best advice right now is to help financially with organizations and charities you know to be legitimate. You can donate to the recovery effort through the American Red Cross by texting REDCROSS to 90999. That gives $10 through your phone bill.
You can donate to the Salvation Army’s effort by visiting their website through this link: http://www.salvationarmyusa.org/usn/www_usn_2.nsf .
The Mississippi Salvation Army chapter was preparing to head to Oklahoma and expected to get the call sometime later this week. When they get there, they expect to serve upwards of 10,000 meals per day to those involved in the recovery effort.
