The Mississippi Flag: Thompson Continues Push for Its Removal, Flag Sales Go Up

WASHINGTON, D.C.–The Mississippi flag issue has not died down over the past week. In fact, both sides have taken action. For Cong. Bennie Thompson, getting it removed from government buildings and grounds in DC has become a priority.

Thompson wrote a letter this week to two members of the Committee on House Administration, Chairwoman Candice Miller (R-Mich.), and rankling member Robert Brady (D-Penn.), asking for immediate action.

In the letter, he referred to the Confederacy as “a treasonous group of rebels who made every effort to tear apart this country and continue their traditions of enslavement and oppression of Black people”.

Thompson said that he feels there is not much need for debate or investigation of the matter.

Meanwhile, sales of the Mississippi flag have gone up steadily. It’s a best-seller on Amazon.

“We’ve had a surge of Confederate flags in the last couple of three weeks and Mississippi flags as well,” said A Complete Flag Source owner Jim McIntyre. “There seems to be a tremendous support for both of those flags.”
