The Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Experience will announce the inaugural Hall of Fame class Thursday at the Capitol.The announcement will be made at 10:30 a.m. on the 2nd floor of the rotunda at the State Capitol with guests like Gov. Phil Bryant, Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves and Speaker of the House Philip Gunn.
Candidates for the Hall of Fame were selected based on important contributions in the field of fine arts and entertainment and have a connection to the state of Mississippi by birthright. 17 artists were selected out of a list of 64 nominees that were pulled from hundreds.
Over the past few months a panel of eighteen electors teamed up with the public in a balloting process to select a diverse group of men and women that represent all disciplines of artistic expression.
The MAX museum is being built in Meridian and will include exhibitions, interactives, the Hall of Fame, an activity space for educational programming, an art studio, a recording studio, an outdoor event space and performance venue. The MAX is expected to attract 150,000 guests a year and generate million in Mississippi economy. A grand opening is scheduled for next year.
