WALNUT, Miss. – Walnut has been named “Mississippi’s Healthiest Home Town.”
The Tippah County town will receive a $50,000 grant from Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation.
Walnut was praised for its farmers’ market, 5k run, tobacco-free education efforts as well as providing green space for various outdoor activities.
Oxford was the healthiest town with 15,000 people or more. It will receive a $25,000 grant.
