JACKSON, Miss. – The magnolia state continues to struggle with unemployment. The national unemployment rate sits at 5.3 percent while Mississippi’s is at 6.5.
Clay County has the highest jobless rate in the state at 11.6 percent while Union County has the lowest at 5 percent.
Although the state is struggling, when compared to the rest of the country, Mississippi is in a much better place then where it was last year. Unemployment for July 2014 was 7.5 percent.
