YAZOO CITY, Miss. — A Yazoo City High School senior is dead and her teenage passenger is in the hospital after a Thursday morning crash.
Jasmand Johnson, 17, was driving her mother’s car on Highway 49 north of Yazoo City when witnesses said she tried to pass another car and lost control. Her vehicle left the road, flipped and burst into flames. Johnson died at the scene. Troopers said her passenger, Latoya Goins, did not have on a seat belt and was ejected from the car. She was airlifted to a Jackson hospital where she is said to be in stable condition.
