Known for their manufacturing of refrigeration and A/C products, Tecumseh manufacturing is investing $1.1 million while creating 60 new jobs in Lee County as a part of expansion efforts to their Verona facility operations.
Tecumseh is consolidating its Canada operations to Verona. The Verona facility also will begin to manufacture the company’s AK2 line of compressors. Production of the AK2 line began in the second quarter of this year.
General Manager Joe Kulovitz says that the company is excited to continue to build their relationship with Tupelo and the state of Mississippi.
“Tecumseh is pleased to have continued our longstanding commitment to helping to grow the economy of Tupelo and the state of Mississippi through this expansion project,” Kulovitz said. “We appreciate the continued support of Governor Bryant and MDA as we strengthen our business and our community.”
Governor Bryant views the expansion as another step in the right direction for Mississippi’s economy.
“Tecumseh’s growth in Lee County is more proof the economy in Northeast Mississippi continues to tick upward. I am grateful for the company’s faith in our workforce and wish it many more years of success,” Governor Bryant said.
The Mississippi Development Authority provided assistance for infrastructure improvements to help with the company’s expansion.
Tecumseh’s soon to be expanded Verona, Miss., facility has been in operation since 1975 and includes 528,000 square feet of manufacturing space.
