JACKSON, Miss. – Mississippi teachers close to getting a pay raise. The Mississippi House and Senate passed a teacher pay bill Tuesday that would provide a $2,500 across the board raise over two years. The bill is now headed to the governor’s desk and he is expected to sign it.
Under the bill, starting July 1 of this year teachers would get $1,500 raise. In 2015 teacher would get a $1,000 raise.
In 2016 schools would then be appropriated $100 per student for rises if the schools rating is and “A.” Schools rated a “B” would get 75$ per student.
