TUPELO, Miss.–A swearing-in ceremony for Mississippi’s newest Congressman, Trent Kelly, was set for Monday at 11 a.m. at Lee County Justice Court. After that, Kelly will begin his duties as Congressman for the 1st District.
Kelly is set to fly to DC and be there Monday afternoon.
Kelly, now the former DA for several counties in northeast Mississippi, won a special election last week to replace Aln Nunnelee in Washington. He beat his opponent, Walter Zinn, with 70 percent of the vote.
With Kelly, Mississippi has three Republican representatives and one Democrat.
