An altercation in which a Ridgeland man bit a male and struck him with a shovel resulted in a standoff between the suspect and police, as well as SWAT.
According to Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers, after the incident between Martin Andrew Allen, 33, and the victim, who has not been identified, Allen went into his Nolan Circle home and blockaded himself.
Once officers arrived at the scene, they blocked off the area, surrounded the home, and shouted over a loudspeaker for the suspect to exit his home.
Nearly two hours later, authorities were seen entering Allen’s home after a loud noise was heard. They later discovered Allen hiding in his attic and took him into custody.
Martin Andrew Allen is currently facing a domestic violence-aggravated assault charge. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals assisted Ridgeland police with the capture.
