MERIDIAN, Miss.- Two people have been arrested in the shooting of a 13-year-old.
It happened on September 23rd and police are locating suspects linked to the crime. They believe it is gang related.
Recently the arrested Alicia Parks and charged her with accessory after the fact. They have also arrested 19-year-old Kendrell Clayton and charged him with shooting into a vehicle, shooting into a dwelling, and gang activity.
The little girl was hit once and is recovering in the hospital. Detective Dareall Thompson of Meridian Police Department told WTOK that they believe the shooting was a retaliation from another shooting that took place earlier that day. In that one, a man was shot multiple times.
“It’s a long road for the victim, but we are trying to get justice for the family,” Thompson says.
