Suspected killer Alex Deaton to stand trial in Kansas before being extradited to Mississippi

The suspected killer of two Mississippi woman will stand trial in Kansas before being handed over to Mississippi authorities.

Rankin County District Attourney Michael Guest said that Alex Deaton, 25, would stand trial in Kansas before being extradited to Mississippi.

“There’s really just no mechanism for us to force them to release him to us. So we are working with them to make sure they have everything that they need, from us, so that when they do pursue the trial in Kansas, they will be able to obtain a conviction,” said Guest.

Deaton is accused of killing his 30-year-old girlfriend Heather Robinson and 69-year-old Brenda Pinter.

Robinson was found dead in her Vineyard at Castlewoods apartment in February. Pinter was discovered inside the Dixon Baptist Church in Neshoba County.

Along with the two murders, Deaton is accused of shooting a woman who was jogging in Castlewoods on the same morning that Robinson was found dead.

Following Deaton’s alleged Mississippi crimes, he spent the next few days moving across the country making stops in Oklahoma, New Mexico and Kansas.

In New Mexico, Deaton is believed to have held a man and his girlfriend at gunpoint and kidnapping the two. They were thrown into the back of their trunk and where shot during the struggle. They would eventually escape.

Deaton wasn’t captured until the Kansas Highway Patrol used spike strips to stop his car, leading his vehicle to flip and catch fire.

In Kansas, he’s accused of allegedly shooting a gas station clerk and stealing a car.
