A man who attempted to rob an undercover police officer is dead after leading officers on a chase and shooting at them.
DeSoto County District Attorney John Champion has confirmed that an officer was posing as a customer while investigating ATM robberies in the Horn Lake area when the suspect approached and pulled a gun on him.
When the suspect was told that the man was an officer, he ran to his vehicle.
While in the car he rammed a police car and was then followed in pursuit by four officers. The man then spun his car around and fired shots at the officers who returned fire. The man was hit by gunfire from one of the officers and was killed.
No identities of the officers or the deceased suspect are being released at this time.
