A man is facing capital murder charges a little over two months following a fatal house fire in Okolona.

Deputies with the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Department took Joe Wren, Jr., into custody on Wednesday in connection to the December 23 fire on Highway 245 that claimed the life of 73-year-old Danny Davis.

Firefighters responded to the residence two days before Christmas and found Davis dead inside. Wren is accused of setting the fire and is now housed at the Chickasaw County Detention Center without bond.

Police believe the two men had prior knowledge of one another, but no additional details have been made available at this time.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office assisted Chickasaw County investigators in developing Wren as a primary suspect in the case.
