Authorities have confirmed the identity of a man who died during an officer-involved shooting in Harrison County Thursday night.
The shooting took place around 9:00 p.m. near 27648 Highway 53 in Gulfport.
According to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, deputies were responding to a call regarding a burglary in progress when the involved subject reportedly pointed a weapon toward responding officers.
The subject, identified as 38-year-old Jeremiah Ladner, received fatal injuries. The deputies involved did not receive any serious physical injuries during this incident.
An autopsy for Ladner is set to occur this coming Monday.
MBI is continuing to investigate the fatal incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.
