State authorities are looking into an officer-involved shooting that took place in Monticello.
According to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Monticello police officers encountered a subject at a gas station who allegedly presented a weapon at law enforcement while entering a vehicle on Wednesday.
An officer then discharged his weapon, striking the unidentified subject. The subject proceeded to drive to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The involved officers did not receive any serious physical injuries.
No arrests were announced by police. No further information has been provided.
MBI is currently assessing the incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.
