Study Shows Thanksgiving Groceries are Going Up

JACKSON, Miss. – The price for Thanksgiving staples like stuffing and turkey are going up.

According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, the average Thanksgiving meal will cost about 70 cents more this year than last year.

Turkeys this year are averaging about $1.44 per pound this year, which means a 16 pound turkey will cost close to $23 dollars.

Items that are cheaper this year include dairy products, ham and green peas.

KCTV reports that Americans are expected to consume more than 51 million turkeys this year.
