JONES COUNTY, Miss.- Fifth grader Zamarion Barnett, 10, was chosen for a national youth activist award presented by Omni Hotels and Resorts.Barnett has the positive opinion that helping others will make him feel better, even if he doesn’t receive anything in return, and because of that mind set we can make the world a better place.
Barnett was nominated by his mother, Markita, who wasn’t sure if her son even had a shot at winning. Zamarion is apart of the Beta Club at school and is always helping with service project, reports WDAM.
He was the only Mississippian to receive the award, and one of 100 in the nation. He will be honored next month at a red carpet ceremony in Nashville, but his family and friends threw him their own version of the ceremony over the weekend.
