JACKSON, Miss.- If you were a victim of the storms that hit many areas of the state Monday and lost your job permanently or temporarily you can apply for benefits.
The Mississippi Department of Employment Security is urging anyone who lost their source of income to apply.
At least 50 businesses were damaged from the storms.
“It’s critical to get those businesses back up and running. We’re worried about unemployment, how long they receive unemployment and how long those businesses might be closed.” Governor Phil Bryant said at a MEMA press conference Wednesday, “A large business in Louisville was totally destroyed with 400 employees there.”
Claims can be filed 24 hours a day at MDES.MS.GOV or during business hours at 1-888-844-3577.
