PASCAGOULA, Miss.- A convenience store clerk was shot during an attempted armed robbery in Pascagoula. She reached out on Facebook to assure people she was still alive.

Daphne Collins, 39, posted on Facebook after being shot by someone trying to rob the Murphy Express on Chicot St. during her overnight shift on Thursday.

Lt. Doug Adams with the Pascagoula Police Department confirmed that a call came in about an armed robbery.

He said police are using the stores security footage to locate the suspect, who is a black male around 5’11” weighing between 160-170 lbs. However, they have had minimal luck on identifying him because he was wearing a mask.

Adams said another officer checked in with Collins and she is still in the hospital in New Orleans waiting for doctors to remove the bullet they sais is lodged close to her spine. As of noon on Friday no surgery had been done.

Lt. Adams asked that if anyone has any leads to please contact the Pascagoula police department.
