Even though the coronavirus outbreak has cancelled 20 shows for Steve Azar, the Mississippi-based musician is using this unprecedented time to raise money for charitable organizations throughout the state.
The Steve Azar St. Cecilia Foundation will be hosting a “Day of Giving” in lieu of its annual celebrity golf tournament that has been postponed due to the ongoing pandemic.
“The bottom line is we are going to get to continue on,” Azar said on today’s episode of The Gallo Show. “We are going to continue to donate, and that is so important.”
The virtual program will be aired tomorrow, June 4, from 4 to 6 p.m. CST through Azar’s Facebook Live. It will include video presentations from sponsors, beneficiaries, and celebrities, as well as musical performances from Dez Dickerson, Ira Dean, Rob Mortimer, Preston Pohl, Ray Boudreaux, and of course Azar himself.
While Azar’s Day of Giving will be very different from the golf tournament that would be going on this week, it nevertheless provides Mississippians a chance to help others in need during one of the most surreal times in history.
