TUPELO, Miss.–If you think you can write a signed check to your self and get away with it in Mississippi, you’ve got another thing coming. Ask Jessica Hardy, of Beloit, Wisconsin. She’s been charged with felony exploitation of a vulnerable person.
Atty. Gen. Jim Hood’s office said she was indicted by a Lee County grand jury and picked up by police in Wisconsin, and is now waiting to be sent back to Mississippi to face the charge.
Hood said Hardy was a certified nursing assistant (CNA) at a retirement and assisted living community in Tupelo, when she made a pre-signed check from a resident there, payable to herself for $500.
After that, she apparently moved away.
Hardy could face 10 years in prison if she’s convicted.
