Governor Tate Reeves announced Tuesday that the statewide mask mandate ends today at 5 p.m. but not all agree on the timing of his decision.
While many cities are following the Governor’s directives, several cities are choosing to keep their mask mandates in effect. Here’s a look at a few:
Congressman Bennie Thompson weighed in on Facebook saying, “Governor Reeves wants to lift the mask mandate and open businesses. I believe Dr. Fauci’s recommendations that it’s too early for these actions. I strongly encourage all Mississippians to continue to wear their masks and listen to the experts.”
State Representative Jeramey Anderson also voiced his opposition to the lifting of the mandate.
While there is some opposition to the easing of restrictions, there are others who are grateful.
Regardless of what rules are in effect, State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs still urges caution.
To prevent COVID transmission and protect patients – MSDH guidance still necessitates the use of masks and other measures to prevent COVID-19 transmission in healthcare settings.
