JACKSON, Miss.- The state liquor warehouse has been filled from top to bottom lately, what’s the reason why?
It seems that Mississippians are drinking more but there may be other reasons for the stock up.
Mississippi Department of Revenue spokesperson Kathy Waterbury told WLOX that it seems Mississippians are becoming more refined with their wine and liquor preferences and the demand is up for it.
She also said that all of those demands require space for storage and they are really just out of it. The Department is hoping that the legislature will give them 9.2 million dollars for expansion and renovation. Being over capacity is a growing problem and sales are increasing 3% a year for the last 10 years.
So what is causing the increase in sales? Basically, Millennials love their wine. They are also seeing sales go up in vodka, in all different varieties.
