A Starkville-Oktibbeha Consolidated School District teacher has been arrested on charges related to touching or handling children.
Kelvin Stanfield, 51, of Okolona, had four warrants for his arrest issued by the 16th Court of Mississippi on Thursday morning and was taken into custody shortly after.
Per a press release from the Starkville Police Department, the crimes Stanfield is accused of took place between March and May of this year and involved four victims. The SOCSD had previously sent out a different release on May 15 that said an investigation was underway involving an unnamed district employee. It has since been confirmed that Stanfield was the one being investigated.
Stanfield is listed on the SOCSD’s website as a teacher at Millsaps Career and Technical Center, teaching Intro to Construction and Safety and Orientation to Construction. He is also a boys and girls bowling coach for Starkville High School.
Stanfield was being held at the Oktibbeha County Jail on a $40,000 bond.
