May the Fourth be with you! A moniker that unites Star Wars fans across the map will be echoed across the Mississippi Pine Belt two Sundays from now.
The Hattiesburg Pocket Museum is calling all Jedi, Sith Lords, smugglers, rebels, and droids to gather for an intergalactic celebration on May 4 for a Star Wars Day celebration that’s strong with the Force. The event will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Guests are encouraged to showcase their best robes, helmets, or bounty hunter gear as part of a costume contest, where the top two adult and children’s costumes will be honored as champions of the galaxy.
“Bring your lightsaber, gather your rebel alliance (or Sith squad), and prepare to party like it’s the Clone Wars. Whether you’re from Naboo or Dagobah, all are welcome — costumes encouraged, the Force required,” a release from the Hattiesburg Convention Commission reads.
A litany of Star Wars-inspired festivities will also take place, including:
- Themed drinks from both Tatooine and the dark side — from non-alcoholic Jedi Juice to cantina-style cocktails for 21+ rebels
- Food offerings from Underdogs
- Star Wars Bingo with galactic prizes
- Face painting to transform Padawans into heroes or villains
- Intergalactic games and Star Wars-themed fun for all ages
- Live Star Wars tunes performed by the Southern Miss Sax Chamber Orchestra — the soundtrack to your galactic adventure
The family-friendly gathering is free of charge and open to guests of all ages.
