The CEO of St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson will be resigning after holding the position for less than two years.
Scott Kashman’s resignation comes at the heels of the recent closure of St. Dominic’s behavioral health services and layoffs of 5.5 percent of its workforce.
The hospital stated in a press release last week that a total of 157 full-time, part-time, and PRN employees are expected to be let go, citing losses of millions of dollars over the past three to five years as the main reason for the decision.
Kashman released his plans to leave the hospital less than 24 hours after Singing River Health System’s CEO Tiffany Murdock announced her resignation. Murdock worked at the Mississippi Gulf Coast health system for eight years.
According to the hospitals — which are both owned by the Louisiana-based Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System — both Kashman and Murdock resigned on their own accords.
St. Dominic’s marketing director Meredith Bailess has since stated that Kashman intends to pursue “an opportunity closer to family” following his resignation.
Kristin Wolkart, who currently serves as chief nursing officer at St. Dominic, will take the role of interim market president on June 20.
