They smoked spice and like many others in Mississippi recently, two homeless men were rushed to a hospital ER Tuesday from a Jackson shelter.
Some Gateway Rescue Mission workers said the men seemed disoriented and it led them to believe the two had smoked the synthetic marijuana after one man brought the spice into the shelter and shared some with the second man.
Both were taken to UMMC for treatment.
Since early April, nearly 900 people across the state have been treated for spice related symptoms at Mississippi hospitals and more than a dozen have died, according to numbers from the Mississippi Department of Health.
