Special Needs Voucher Bill Passes Committee, Support Stronger Than Years Before

JACKSON, Mississippi– Since the bill calling for a special needs voucher has passed the education committee, Representative Carolyn Crawford says things are looking better than before.

“I think we’ve got a good shot this year,” says Crawford, “we’re very appreciative of our support from the speaker, governor, and lieutenant governor.”

The bill has made it further at this point than it did last year, and Crawford hopes to see it become law without a hitch.

“I’d love to see a unanimous vote,” says Crawford.  Even though it has passed the committee, parents can still continue to rally support to increase the chances of it becoming law.

“If our parents will continue to contact their legislator, try to get some commitment for support and they’ll vote on it,” Crawford says, “it’s a good way to keep it on the radar.”
