Voters in house district 60 will head to the polls on February 20, 2018.
Governor Phil Bryant set the February date for the special election which will fill the vacant seat in House District 60 in the Mississippi House of Representatives.
The seat became available after Rep. John Moore (R) stepped down last Friday claiming that it was due to health issues. Just days after he announced his resignation, Moore was accused of sexual assault by multiple women. Moore spent 22 years with the legislature, and has not commented publicly since the allegations were brought against him.

The qualifying deadline for those wanting to run to fill the seat is January 2, 2018. If no candidate receives 50 percent of the vote in the February election, a runoff will be held on March 13. House District 60 is comprised of parts of Rankin County.
