For the second straight week, Southern Miss has had its game postponed due to COVID-19.
The Golden Eagles were set to travel to UTEP Saturday, but an outbreak within the USM football program has caused the matchup to be pushed back.
“The health and safety of everyone involved continues to be our guiding force which made this decision to postpone the game the appropriate one,” Southern Miss Director of Athletics Jeremy McClain said. “We are disappointed for our student-athletes who will not get a chance to participate for a second-straight weekend, however, we will work with UTEP, in conjunction with Conference USA, to reschedule this game for later this season.”
Last week, the matchup between Southern Miss and FAU was postponed following an outbreak within the Owl’s football program.
C-USA recently announced that its conference title game has been rescheduled for December 18th to allow time for games to be made up.
USM will return to the field on October 24th when they travel to face Liberty.
