Southern Miss has announced its updated 12-game 2020 football schedule.
Following the cancelation of their matchups with Jackson State and Auburn due to decisions made by the SWAC and the SEC, USM was able to add home games against Tennessee Tech and Tulane to round out their schedule for the fall. In addition to the new matchups, USM’s season opener against South Alabama at home was moved up by two days with kickoff now set for September 3rd.

Despite the release of the schedule, Southern Miss Director of Athletics Jeremy McClain did acknowledge that things could change as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolds.
“We are excited to be able to add these games to our schedule and get to seven home games for student-athletes and season ticket holders,” McClain said. “This is obviously a very fluid situation, and we will continue to make adjustments that allow us the best opportunity to safely conduct a football season.
With seven home games on the schedule for USM, the question now becomes how many fans can fill M.M. Roberts Stadium? An executive order issued by the governor currently allows for 25% stadium capacity in Mississippi, but like everything else, that could change.
