Tuesday’s scheduled matchup between the Southern Miss and Mississippi State baseball teams has been postponed to Wednesday due to expected inclement weather in Starkville.
First pitch will take place at 4 p.m. at Dudy Noble Field. The unranked Bulldogs will look for redemption after the Golden Eagles won 3-0 when the two teams played in Hattiesburg last month.
While Mississippi State (7-4) started the season ranked, an underwhelming weekend bounced the Bulldogs from national polls. Southern Miss (9-3), on the other hand, is coming off a series win over then-top 25 TCU, which boosted the team to No. 20 in D1Baseball’s weekly rankings.
Shared rival Ole Miss (10-1) also announced it would not be taking the field on Tuesday with rough weather conditions expected to hit Oxford. The No. 17 Rebels were planning to play Southeastern Louisiana but will now wait until Wednesday to play Murray State. The game against SELA will not be rescheduled, according to the university’s athletics department.
