HATTIESBURG, Miss.- The investigation into the Southern Miss Men’s Basketball program by the NCAA looks to finally be coming to a close. CBS Sports is reporting that the NCAA is expected to send a notice of allegations at some point in the next week.
The alleged violations are surrounding improper benefits and academic misconduct that happened under former head coach Donnie Tyndall. Tyndall left Southern Miss for Tennessee in April 2014. He spent one season as head coach for the Volunteers before these allegations surfaced, which led to his eventual termination after his first season ended.
It will be Tyndall charged with rules violations. After the NCAA issues the allegations, Tyndall and Southern Miss will have the chance to appeal whatever it is they are accused of.
CBS says that the NCAA will eventually levy penalties, probably at some point in 2016.
Tyndall is currently out of a job. Doc Sadler is the head basketball coach at Southern Miss.
