JACKSON, Miss– Central Mississippi Medical Center, River Region Medical Center, River Oaks Hospital, Women’s Hospital, Crossgates River Oaks Hospital, and Madison River Oaks Hospital join to form Merit Health System.
The new system will benefit patients and physicians by having one healthcare system with streamlined technology, electronic medical records, and procedures.
“They have multiple doctors,” says Tobey Houston, Director of Network Development for Merit Health, “the continuing care is so much better through technology and electronic medical records.”
Medical records from clinics and hospitals within the systems would be available for each patient at different locations within the system. So a patient could see a doctor at a Merit Health clinic, be referred to a Merit Health cardiologist, but not have to worry with the hassle of transferring records.
Merit Health also streamlines equipment and procedures for doctors which will make transitioning between each facility a little easier.
“We have physicians that use different facilities,” says Houston, “if one operating room works the same as another, it’s more efficient for the doctors.”
Merit Health combines six hospitals, thirty-six clinics, 1200 beds and more than 3,000 employees. New signage and logo changes will start circulation in February.
