JACKSON, Miss. – If your young athlete shows signs of a concussion, they will not be able to jump back into the game or practice until they have been cleared by a doctor. That was made mandatory . Don Hinton, executive director of the Mississippi High School Activities Association, says the law is nothing new and schools were already following similar safety policies. What is says is different this year is a consent from that goes home for the student and a parent to sign.
Hinton says the concussion consent form is not just for football players. It is also required for softball, cheer-leading, marching band, and other High School activities.
