CLARKSDALE, Miss.–The last thing you’d expect to happen if you heard a knock at the door is to be shot as soon as you answered it. Myrtle Messenger, 66, likely did not expect that either. She died Saturday after she was shot on her front steps in Clarksdale.
Clarksdale Police and the Miss. Bureau of Investigation are looking for whomever shot her and they also want to know why. They did not have a motive Sunday night.
The shooting happened Saturday night at Myrtle’s home on Poplar St.
Police spent the day Sunday looking for clues. They do not even know if Messenger was the person the shooter meant to kill.
